Catching Up #003
I'm having a hard time believing it's already November, but here we are. Last week was an unbelievably stressful and busy time for me because I've been so busy at work lately, so this weekend was much needed (although very short). Let's catch up, shall we? (Note: This is a long post, so get a snack)
I absolutely love my job and I have such a high respect for the kind of work we do, but I've been so busy lately! Don't get me wrong, I'm the type of person who loves to be busy and has to constantly be doing something to stay sane, but sometimes you need a break, you know? I'm a marketing analyst and I've been brought onto a lot of different projects that are really fun and let me use my skills to create and design, so it's a lot of fun. Honestly, I'm lucky to have fallen into a job that I'm passionate about and that I love so much.
I've been obsessed with Uber. Okay, maybe "obsessed" isn't the right word, but it is a lifesaver! I don't have a car, and taking the bus and metro is hard when I need to buy groceries or make Target runs, so that's where Uber comes in handy. Last weekend I went grocery shopping and the Uber driver even helped me carry my groceries to my apartment! If you've never tried Uber, you really should because it's handy. All you do is click the app and put in the address of where you want to go and a driver will show up in 5 minutes and take you where you want to go. I like talking with my Uber drivers and ask them how their day is and we make small talk about how I just moved here from Hawaii, and they tell me about their children and we laugh about the weird passengers they've had in the past. It's just fun, but I clearly get a thrill out of the littlest things.
I've also been eating a lot healthier lately, and it's made a huge difference for me! I haven't had fast food or eaten out in a long time, and instead I've been cooking all my meals at home. I've actually begun to enjoy cooking a lot more, and I've started enjoying experimenting with different recipes and meals (mom status). But I have been incorporating more vegetables and fruits and whole grains and tea and vitamins into my days and it has kept me really healthy! (Just ignore the photo of donuts above) I haven't been sick in I don't even know how long (knock on wood, it stays that way!)
So... my boyfriend and I started watching The Walking Dead. I know I'm a little late to the party (5 years late...), but it happened. I've always been scared to watch it because I thought it was scary, and I also thought it would be a waste. But let me tell you: I am so obsessed. We started watching it two weeks ago and we're already on Season 4. It's all I can think about during the day. My boyfriend plays the theme song in his head all day long. It's a bad addiction, but I'm totally okay with it.
Let's just talk about the weather for a second. East coast, why are you so cold??? Everyone I've talked to here says that it's going to be in the negatives during our winter and last year there was snow on the ground by mid-November (it is currently the beginning of November... I'm terrified) I'm not ready for the snow. But I'm most certainly not ready for the beautiful fall leaves to go away either!
I've been growing closer to my faith lately. My boyfriend and I pray together every morning and night, and it really helps to set the mood for the day. Even if you aren't religious, taking time out of your day to talk to someone about the things you're thankful for is really important and it helps you to put things into perspective, which in turn, keeps you optimistic and grateful (two amazing qualities!).
And last but not least, something else I did since I last wrote... I made my Christmas vacation plans! I put in vacation at work and bought my ticket to fly to the great white north for the holidays to spend Christmas with my boyfriend and his family. And. I'm. So. Excited. I'm more than likely going to freeze my butt off, but I'll have the time of my life! I've only been to Canada twice, the first time I drove through en route to Alaska, and the second time I went to Niagara Falls for a day trip. Anyway, we've been planning this trip for a long time now, and I'm so happy it's finally happening (and it's next month - 44 days!)
I'm looking forward to this week (here's my mug). I have high hopes that it will be another positive week, and that only good things will come out of it! Hard work pays off, and I'm grateful to be living this life every day.
