Catching Up #011

These first two weeks of June have been really relaxing, which has been so nice! I haven't done anything significant or gone anywhere, but I have been doing things that are bringing me closer to my goals and I have also been working on my own positivity and not worrying about little things (it's a work in progress, but I'm getting better at it!).

I've actually been spending a lot of time out on my balcony, writing, reading, and soaking up the sunshine. I've been writing a lot lately, and it's helped me to stay grounded and stay inspired. I'm hoping to do something with the things I've written, but for now, they'll stay in my journal.

I started rereading The Desire Map, and I forgot how much I enjoyed reading it the first time! It's a good book if you're into setting goals for yourself, but you're the type that never seems to see them through. I have tons of goals for myself, but sometimes I get too caught up in my daily life that my personal goals get pushed to the back burner. This book has helped me realize why I'm setting goals in the first place.

Main takeaway: Are you chasing a goal? Or are you chasing the feeling you will receive when you reach your goal? Food for thought. 

I'm in love with this mini "Central Park" near my apartment. I inadvertently spent half an hour sitting here the other day because my Uber cancelled on me so I was waiting for a new ride. At first, I was really annoyed that I had to wait an extra 15 minutes out in the hot sun. But then I sat down on a bench and looked around at how beautiful it was. Sometimes I have to remind myself to breathe and not get so uptight about little things that don't matter. I actually really enjoyed sitting out here, and I'm surprised I haven't done this more often! 

Lastly, I planted some baby flowers this week! Dwarf sunflowers, daisies, and poppies! I'm excited for these to bloom and add a little bit of color to my balcony this summer. 

One more thing: My boyfriend is coming to visit tomorrow for two weeks and I AM SO EXCITED!
